Directions
Pre-Skimming Preparation: It’s a good idea to closely watch the conditions on the beach and the wavebreaks. Get a feel for where the waves are breaking and observe the beach area, keeping an eye out for any hazards, including people. After observing the beach for a while, you should have a good idea where to start skimming. Preparation of Skimboard: To enhance performance, wax the deck (top) of the skimboard with surfboard wax, however, this is not mandatory. This will enhance your ride and helps you stand on the board without slipping off. Apply the wax on the board in a circular motion to get a nice bead. Once your board is waxed, you are ready to go. Watch the shoreline and wait for waves to push away from the shore. The goal is to skim across the thin, shallow film of water that recedes from the shore towards the ocean or lake. Tips for Care of Board: Bodyboards & Skimboards can break. – Here are some tips to avoid breakage: 1) Do not leave in hot car trunk. 2) Do not leave in direct sunlight. 3) Place tail of board in the sand with nose facing sun to avoid direct sunlight. 4) If board gets dent or ding, make sure it is repaired before placing in water.
